Recovery for the tension a shift doesn't let go of.

Restraint procedures and sustained vigilance postures place repetitive load on the shoulders, wrists, and forearms, layered with unpredictable acute physical demands.

What Nap Hands can do for you

On-site chair massage offers a practical reset between rounds, while Body Tempering works through the deeper guarding that builds over a longer career.

Compensation patterns we see

  • Lower back and postural strain from prolonged standing and walking on hard floors during patrol rounds

  • Cervical and shoulder tension from sustained hypervigilance and scanning in high-alert environments

  • Acute strain from physical altercations, restraints, and use-of-force incidents

  • Hip and lower back tightness from wearing a duty belt with restraint equipment for extended shifts

  • Chronic stress-related muscle tension across the neck, shoulders, and upper back from sustained situational awareness

Stretches and exercises that help

  • Standing hip flexor stretch: Step one foot forward into a shallow lunge, tuck pelvis under, keep torso upright. Hold 30–45 sec each side. Releases hip tightness from duty-belt wear and prolonged standing.

  • Neck rotation and upper-trap release: Slowly turn head side to side through comfortable range, then tilt ear toward shoulder. Hold 20 sec each side. Counters cervical tension from sustained hypervigilance.

  • Seated or standing lumbar extension: Hands on lower back, gently lean backward while standing. Hold 10 sec, repeat 8–10 times. Relieves lower back strain from prolonged standing/walking.

  • Shoulder rolls and doorway chest stretch: Roll shoulders back 10 times, then place forearm on a doorframe and gently rotate away. Hold 20–30 sec each side. Releases upper back/shoulder tension from stress posture.

  • Box breathing with progressive relaxation: Inhale 4 sec, hold 4 sec, exhale 4 sec, hold 4 sec; repeat 5–8 cycles while consciously releasing shoulder/neck tension. Helps discharge chronic stress-related muscle guarding.
